Call for 21st Century Learning Schools

The Alabama Best Practices Center, with support from Microsoft Corporation, is offering a professional development program aimed at introducing schools to 21st Century Learning principles. Over a two-year period, 40 schools in the ABPC Powerful Conversations network will be invited to participate in "Powerful Conversations about 21st Century Learning." Each school will select a team of 3-5 educators who will take part in this online experience and share what they learn with their own school-based professional learning communities. Benefits to schools include:

  • Your school-based team will be exposed to 21st Century teaching/learning issues;
  • Teams will use a variety of cutting-edge virtual tools;
  • Team will learn new ways to engage students and promote academic success;
  • Teams will be able to lead 21st Century Learning discussions among school faculty;
  • Virtual professional development makes good use of valuable teacher time;
  • Your school will receive statewide publicity and be recognized as forward-thinking and concerned about preparing students for success in the 21st Century.

Call for 21st Century Learning Fellows

To help support our Microsoft project, ABPC will select 10 school-based educators with a demonstrable interest in 21st Century teaching and learning for our 21st Century Learning Fellows program. The Fellows will serve as teacher leaders during a number of online and face-to-face events over the two-year grant period. Travel expenses, sub support, and a substantial honorarium will be provided. Benefits to Fellows include:

  • A more thorough understanding of 21st Century Learning
  • An opportunity to deepen your expertise in the use of virtual tools/environments
  • An opportunity to work with like-minded colleagues on an urgent issue
  • Access to national experts in the field
  • Statewide professional recognition as a leader in 21st C Learning
  • Recognition for your school
  • A total honorarium of $6,750 over the two-year period
