The Alabama Best Practices Center (ABPC) is a place where educators can turn for assistance, inspiration and information about teaching and student achievement.

Our purpose is to help teachers and administrators develop the competence, commitment, and courage to do whatever it takes to improve student learning.

Our professional learning programs include:

Additionally, the ABPC chronicles success stories from Alabama’s public K-12 schools.

The Malone Family Foundation
is our lead underwriter. Support from the Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation and Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham was instrumental in expanding the Powerful Conversations Network, and grants from Microsoft Corporation have helped participants in ABPC programs deepen their understanding of the 21st century learner.

A division of the A+ Education Partnership, the Center was founded in 1999 to fulfill a recommendation of the statewide Task Force on Teaching and Student Achievement. The BellSouth Foundation provided initial funding.
